Built into a chimney breast recess in this Keston living room, this floor-to-ceiling media wall combines TV housing, hi-fi integration and open display shelving in one continuous run. Soft curved returns at each end, cane-fronted sliding doors and a book-matched stone shelf give it the feel of furniture rather than fitted joinery, while every speaker, subwoofer and cable is built in and out of sight.
Curved bullnose returns — each end of the run is finished with a soft, rounded corner rather than a square edge, taking considerably longer to spray by hand but removing every hard edge from the room.
Cane-fronted sliding doors — two doors above the TV run on a concealed track and are fronted in open-weave cane, letting the AV equipment breathe while staying out of view.
Fully integrated audio — speakers and subwoofer are recessed directly into the carcass, wired and vented internally so nothing sits loose on a shelf.
Book-matched stone shelf — a single running shelf in book-matched marble-effect stone ties the cabinetry together and doubles as a display ledge.
This project came together with the client’s AV installer from first fix through to final snagging, with speaker cable routes, subwoofer venting and TV bracket points built into the carcass before a single panel was sprayed.
